KPOPvision exclusive interview with ReBorn
KpopVision is a new German News website and Forum for Kpop and Korean culture.
I want to thank KpopVision for letting me share the English version of the interview with you. Here we go ^^...

[Exclusiv Interview] ReBorn – Songwriter und Singer

All Rights and Credits belong to KPOPvision.
Pls give credits when reposting and ask KPOPvision for permission.
And here is the link for the German translation by Kirikirimai15 (@KPOPvision):

KpopVision: What do you think about german fans?
ReBorn: I really appreciate that people in Germany like me. I still feel like i'm dreaming. Lately, i heard that there are people in other country who like me too. Now, i don't know what to do to them. Don't know how to pay back.

KPV: Would you come to Germany one day and give a concert?
Yes yes ofcourse i want it. But little worried that there are only few people wanna see me T.T.
If there's any chance i could sing in front of germans, i would love to-

KPV: Would you reveal something about your current project?
Haha- nothing much. New single is coming out soon which is called'바라지않아' meant ' don't want you to' there was pretty complicated business thing stucked, but it's okay now. You will be able to listen to it very soon. The music video is shooting on this friday- you know what? It will be filmed at my house haha- Few more collaborations will be done soon too. (Can't tell you who with )

KPV: Do you have a dream girl?
Haha funny Question. Is there anyone who doesn't have a dream girl? Yes yes i have. But a dream girl means just a dream girl. Can't reach her. I love to keep her in my heart and i can feel her anytime anywhere on my own way ^^

KPV: What is the name of your fans?
Uhm..............i dunno. actually there's no fan club in Korea i have. Oversea? They don't have name yet i guess.
Just ReBorn fans maybe? (sad T.T) As you know, my songs are not a type for young people actually. I even
reckon it. That's why i dont have young fans who have huge passion for their lovers.

KPV: Do you have any goals and where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Maybe step into billboard? Haha (kidding) just write songs what i love to do. Wish people keep loving my songs. Well there's not many plans for the composer i think. If i really must say one thing? Well...become a respactable composer not as a singer.

KPV: If you could collaborate with anyone you want, who would it be and why?
I really really wish oneday i could produce Lady Gaga's album. She's the one who has perfact talant for the entertainment i think. Pretty, good at singing, nice fashion, good dancing too.

KPV: If you could turn back time, is there anything you would change in your life?
Haha can't tell u cause there are so many T.T. that's why i don't regret things i've done wrong. I can't stay on focus the present if i think the past. Focus on the present, do my best on the present. This is how i keep my life on.

KPV: Do you prefer recording in the studio or performing live?
To tell the truth, i do better in the studio than in live. I wasn't supposed to be a singer. I was a composer, but there's was no one who could express my feeling of songs. That's why i sang my songs myself, and tha's how i became a singer. funny isn't it?. Well i love to sing in live too but feel more like confortable in the studio which i stay almost everyday haha.

KPV:  What's the most beautiful thing in doing music?
I can tell people what i think, what i feel by writting a song and lyrics more than anyone. I feel happiness when people listen to my song and feel just what i felt. Share my feeling with others with the music is the best thing.

KPV: In which countries have you already been?
Austrailia, Japan. I'm planning to go to America in this winter. I really love travelling but there was not enough time T.T
Europe, it's really far away from Korea. That's what i could have been there yet. I really love to go there though...

KPV: Is there something you want to say to your german fans and readers of KPOPvision?
Thank you so much for asking me an interview and i want to say people like me in Germany ' sehr dankbar Ihre Liebe, aber Ich bin ganz weit von Ihr. Ich gruesse mit Musik '
I'd like to thank you instead of people in Korea that you like Korean culture and Korean singers.
There are so many good musician in Korea. Please try listening to others too ^^

Koreafilm exclusive interview with Reborn
This is an exclusive interview with ReBorn by the Romanian website
I was told that there are already many Romanian ReBorn fans and we are glad to hear that. :)

Interview by DaEun (
Published on September 30, 2011
Any copying, republication or redistribution of content
is expressly prohibited without prior consent of the author or Koreafilm team.

We start a new series dedicated to Korean artists and the first of them is ReBorn, a singer and a producer, who debuted with his mini album called ” Born to Soul” in April this year.

KoreaFilm: First of all, thank you very much for accepting the interview!
How are you today? How’s the weather?

ReBorn: Having great days but busy T.T.
It’s getting hot these days but I like it. I love summer. Perfect weather for picnic.

KF: Your stage name is Reborn, why did you choose it and what does it means to you?

RB: I was a kind of fool guy before I start music. Making trouble all day, didn’t do anything right and lived without a goal. After making music, completely changed. That’s why I called my self Re-born. Yes. I was reborn by music.

KF: Can you please provide us a brief background of your history as a producer?

RB: It took almost 6 month for making 6 tracks. I really tried to make one as I’ll never regret.
Drum, piano, string vocal. Every part of songs were fixed many times. Even in mixing and mastering. I visited a professional mixing engineer. However I didn’t like the sound. So I put them in the trash and visited another engineer. It mixed well finally. It’s come out to the world.

KF: What is music to you?

RB: So many people have asked me this . I can’t say the right answer and can’t just define it with one word. I can’t think my life without music.

KF: When did you realize that you want to make music?

RB: Well, I don’t know when it was exactly. I think I liked music since I was really little. One day, suddenly I thought ‘what if I make music?’ I started it after that day and it’s been almost 10 years.

KF: You recently released your first mini album ‘Born to Soul’. Could you describe your top 3 favorite songs from the album in 3 words each? (Or all the songs, each in 3 words?)

RB: ‘She’s in Paris’ – every fruit mix (tried to put every sound of music in this song. Jazz, hiphop, R&B, pop)
‘you with me’ – love you forever
I’m sorry – I am sorry ( haha I wrote the lyric to say ‘I am sorry’ that’ why)

KF: The song “You with me” is somehow sad but at the same time it gives the listener a calm and happy feeling. Could you describe the story behind the song?

RB: There is a man who has been so fool to his girlfriend. One day, he realized how important she is, how much he loves her and needs her. It’s a love letter saying what he did wrong to her and how he will do better to her.

KF: MeloDeep Records was established by you on 26th April 2011, in the future what kind of artists would you like to produce?

RB: The singer who makes listener’s heart wave. The skill is not important. It’s only the matter of time if you practice. But the feeling, a singer has, it’s not a thing you can get with trying. I’m still looking for a singer like this, haven’t found anyone yet.

KF: If you hadn’t chosen to become a musician, is there something else you had thought of doing?

RB: Just an ordinary business man maybe? There’s nothing I like without music there’s nothing I can’t do either..

KF: What are you currently doing besides music?

RB: There are so many things to do since my album got out to the world. I thought something else, not music, is not that important. But now, since I hear fan’s voice from the oversea. Many things I have to do pops up from so many where. But I’m happy with it. I’m loved by someone at least.

KF: promotes Korean culture in its diversity, and the music is an important part. If our readers were to visit Korea, could you recommend them some places where they can listen to quality music, as well as ways of entertainment for them during their stay?

RB: Try visit Hong-Dae. There are many clubs and concert holes and also good musicians. The show opens on every Friday in every club. Easy to find and get in because there are so many!

KF: What are your future plans?

RB: I’ll have a concert on 9th Oct. and there will be a single album on Sep. I have many featuring works for other singers. Please keep your ears on me.

KF: That would be all, thanks again for the interview, we can’t wait for your future projects !

ReBornFans interview with our most favorite Korean musician ReBorn

Interviewer: Kyujunnie and Chunminie
Please repost with full credit

This is an interview with our most favorite Korean musician ReBorn.
My friend Chunminie and I asked him for an interview and even he was pretty busy, he was so kind to accept our request. Thanks Reborn for giving us the chance to know more about him ^_^ .
While reading his answers we had much fun. I‘m sure you will have it, too.

Here we go…

You worked really hard on your first album 'born to soul'. Every song is well picked and has a nice tune. How are your feelings about it? Are you pleased with it?
It took almost 6 months to make this album 'born to soul'. I tried so hard to make it as much as possible, not to regret after publishing it. Now I'm so glad you recognize my songs.

Making an album is very hard as a singer and a producer. What was the most difficult part for you while doing this album?
I sent them to mix so many mixing engineers, but it was not easy to find the right person who could mix them well. I found one finally who becomes a friend now (called NaPD, he has really great skill of mixing and mastering).
The other thing was, I was not sure that tracks are whether good. When listening to tracks so many times, it's really easy to forget what's good or what's bed. Now I think it's not bad at least, cause there are fans who love my music right? Haha.

Without any support it's impossible to produce such a great album. Who was by your side and encouraged you?
So many people. I can't pick just one of them. I owe them a lot. Hope I have a chance to pay back to them one day.

How did the people around you respond to your album? Were they glad about your hard working?
Yes, some of them. They said my album will be known by some underground manias. Because songs are not such exoteric. Actually I meant to make it too. No one could have thought I could have fans in oversea. They're still saying it's unbelievable.

All your songs have a nice storyline and are telling about deep and true love. Are they based on personal experience?
Yes, I write every songs based on the story I had. Sometimes not, but almost.

You are pretty busy with writing songs. Can you tell anything about your latest song?
Haha secret. You will know when it comes out. If I give a hint, I‘m trying to collaborate with a German rapper. It will be awesome.

You already covered with Heenseol the song "falling slowly" by the OST for the movie "Once". And the outcome was so good. Have you ever thought about composing English songs, too?
Yes, but I'm not that good at English. T.T maybe one day I will make one. By the way I didn't know the song 'falling slowly'. Heenseol told me that song was good and I practiced singing few hours and then we filmed it in a day.

You published three songs on your my-space: 'can't sleep tonight', 'don't love won't love' and 'hurt'. These songs have different styles as the songs on your album. Your fans are really interested in them and are wondering if you are going to publish them in an album. Have you ever thought about it?
Haha, I will. Actually I don't make only one style. I don't care about the genre when I make music. I love rock, techno, pop and hiphop too. It does not matter. Good music is good music.

For a composer, singer and producer instruments are very important. They are the key to music. On your facebook-site you posted so many pictures showing your studio and equipment. Which instruments do you play? And which is your favorite one?
I can't play instruments very well. I play them as much as I need. I usually work with computer composing program. These days, it's important to know how to control every music softwares. And almost musicians work on computer now. My favorite one? computer mouse. Haha.

Are there any musicians or singers you would love to work with?
There are so many good musicians out there. I want to work with every different style of musicians.

You have quite exhausting days as a producer. If you find a peaceful moment for yourself, what do you do for relaxing?
Love drinking coffee with listening to Jazz. Going to fish. Going to bush to camp. But the best one is drinking alcohol with my friends haha. Laughing, talking, eating with no stress and no concern is the best thing I guess.

You are in twitter and facebook with many followers on both sites. Most of them are from different countries, especially from Germany. How was your reaction to this unexpected interest to your person and to your music? How did the people around you respond to it?
It makes me feel dreaming. Still, i can't believe this whether is real or not. Even my family and friends say 'don't lie' haha. In Korea, I'm not that famous as in Germany of others (well..maybe it's not either).
There's huge intense in Korea music market. Without spending a lot of money for publicity activities, it's really hard to be known. Only musicians recognize me and like my songs. Uhm...I have only 1st album right? People in Korea will know my songs soon I wish. At least, i have fans from oversea!! Haha.

Do you have more aims for this year besides finishing your first album? Will your fans be seeing you with new projects?
Yeap. Tracks are already come out. I'm considering which one to pick. You will see it soon ^^

We finally came to the end of our interview. We hope you had much fun. Is there any message you want to send to your fans?
Thank you, and thank you again. I know I'm saying 'thank you' many times but I can't find any other words to say better then thank you. I was shocked with you have such a huge passion of music. And that gives me the energy to make more good music. Please keep support me as now. I promise that I'll put forth ounce of my energy.
Ich liebe dich !!!!

Your stage name is "Re-Born". Why did you choose this name? What's the meaning behind it?
I was born again since i started to make music. I couldn't concentrate on a thing, not even 30 minitues. But if i start to make music, i don't even notice, how time passes. I don't even go to the bathroom in hours. Sometimes I'm surprised by myself. Music is something really important to me. That's why i call my self reborn since i started music.

Did you always want to become a singer?
No, never. I wanted to be a producer making real good music. I'm still working hard on it.

Why did you decided to be a singer?
I really didn't want to sing. But there was no singer, i liked nearby me. I thought 'what if i sing?'. That's how i started to record a song. It was not bad. (People told me that, i didn't agree though.) Now I'm a singer. Funny huh?

When did you started to do music?
It's been 10 years already. I'm still bad. I need more practice.

Where and how do you write songs? Do you go to your favorite place and wait for inspiration
or do you just have moments of inspiration where you take a pen and write it down?
Mostly in my studio or at home. I have a mobile composing system, so I can make music anytime, anywhere I want. When it's hard to write a song, I go to the Cafe very often (I love coffee sososososo much :) Real Esspresso!!). It's really helpful when i got stuck with a song. Sometimes I get up from bed and run to my laptop. I don't want to miss a sinlge nice melody :D.

Where do you get your inspiration from?
From everywhere, everyone, every feeling. Sorry it's hard to explain. It just pops up suddenly.

You debuted some days ago with your song "You with me". What's the story behind this song?
There's a man who loves a woman. It's been few years they've been going out and they start to loose each other. At this time, the man tries not to break up by telling her their stories from the beginning of their love and what he is going to try, how he's going to keep his word.

You're first mini album "Born to Soul" was also released some days ago. How would you describe the sound and feeling of this album?
I tried to make the songs not too light, not too deep. Every song goes smoothly. I want them to be listened to not just once, not listened few times and than been thrown away. It's very easy to listen and feel, I think.

If you could choose one song out of it, which represents your music, which would it be?

It's really difficult to pick one. They are just like my children (I don't have one though :D). They all have different stories. I can't just pick one sorry ^^;

As a musician what's most important thing for you?
To keep my first intention: never chasing money instead of music.

What's your goal as a musician?
Songs i made, have stories. I want poeple feel what I tried to say with the songs. If there is one person who cries or smiles after listening to my music, I'm done.

Which musicians do you like? who are your idols, your influences?

Actually I don't listen to Korean music, neither the present ones. Musiq child, Craig David, Jamie Fox, there are thousands of artists i like :)

Do you have a philosophy of life or a favorite quote?
Enjoy my life. Love every hour, I have. Don't do, what I wouldn't like if others do it.

What are your interests expect music? what do you do when you don't do music?

I love fishing, snowboarding(only in Winter), playing pool, drinking (I like to talk with friends drunken haha). These days? Replying German fans!!

If you didn't became a musician what would you do now?
Just a salesman? Or a business man? I don't know. I wanted to become a musician since i was a child.

Did you ever thought your songs would have such an impact on german fans?
How could I? Even in Korea. I always think my songs are not that good, not enough to make poeple like them. Friends told me 'your songs are good', but I thought they lied. I never ever thought that it'll be liked over so there so much.

What was your first thought when you found out that you've got so many german fans?

Am I in heaven? Is this a dream? I told my friends about it. They coulnd't believe it. (I didn't even try to explain them because I couldn't believe it either.) Wow...I'll never forget the feeling I had felt at first.

What comes into your mind when you hear "Germany"?

Sososososo surprised. Never felt this before in my life. Shock, good shock. Germans really get me to work hard.

What are your future plans? Any new songs in work?
I'm working on a project album called 'SooDoGwon brothers' which means 'Metapolitan brothers' (with musicians who live around Seoul). It's coming out this July (not fixed yet). This album will be great. I'm so excited about it. And I got lots of tracks already made (only re-recording left). When they are done, I'll publish them as a single. Please enjoy them too :D.

Thanks so much for this interview with us. We'll support you in future too and we're waiting for new music of you! Keep on the great work! Thank you!

You asked me hard questions haha. I'll keep your support and love and I'll pay you back with great songs. Thank you all!

"Danke schon!!!!"
ReBorn's album will be released on itunes on the 20th June. Till then you can buy the album on yesasia or other korean music download sites! Please support him with buying his album!
